'Injustice 2' characters news 2016: 2 new characters expected to be revealed at Comic-Con?
The upcoming sequel of the fighting video game "Injustice" is set to come out in 2017. According to the latest reports, "Injustice 2" will feature a couple of new DC characters to the roster. There are also reports suggesting that a guest fighter might possibly join the lineup.
According to a Twitter post by "Mortal Kombat" creator Ed Boon, the team will reveal the exciting details at the Comic-Con this Friday.
"Come see our Injustice 2 panel @ SD Comic-Con Friday, July 22 with 2 more character reveals!"
The revelation is said to happen at 12:30-1:30 p.m. The game creator previously teased fans that the company is currently thinking of adding two new storylines. He advised fans to look into it especially the "Flashpoint" and "The Killing Joke" arcs.
According to industry observers, "The Killing Joke" storyline may feature two Batman characters. There are speculations suggesting that it will be Barbara Gordon/Batgirl and the always popular The Joker. On the other hand, "Flashpoint" may include multiple characters from The Flash including Reverse-Flash, Shazam, Cyborg, Wonder Woman, Booster Gold and The Flash himself. There are speculations saying that there could be more on that list.
According to a report by Game Informer, game developer NetherRealm Studios could be planning to include a guest fighter in the sequel. Boon added that fans like the idea of adding guest characters in the roster just like what happened in the first "Injustice" game.
"I always think there's a novelty to it and there's a certain amount of people who think that when they see a guest character that it took the slot of a DC character that they wanted to have," Boon explained. "But you know, Scorpion in Injustice was the most downloaded of all the characters. There was a coolness and a novelty factor to seeing the mixing of the things. Alien and Predator in Mortal Kombat X were the most downloaded of those, so I would be surprised if we didn't do any of that [in Injustice 2]."
As of the moment, the game developer has yet to reveal the guest character; however, fans are starting to share their own predictions online.
