'Injustice 2' release date, latest news: NetherRealm Studios launches new gameplay trailer featuring Robin
Game developer "NetherRealm Studios," along with Warner Bros. Interactive Entertainment and DC Entertainment, recently revealed a new gameplay trailer for the upcoming video game "Injustice 2," featuring DC character Robin.
The gameplay footage, according to Gamespot, was revealed during a Twitch live stream. Based on Robin's dialogue in the trailer, it is believed that the Robin that will be appearing the upcoming video game will be that of Damian Wayne. Batman also appears in the footage.
During the live stream, NetherRealm boss Ed Boon revealed that there will be some obscure characters who will be included on the game's roster. Considering that the first "Injustice" game covered a lot of the well-known characters in the DC universe, the sequel's objective may be to dig deeper by introducing characters that not many people know much about.
Boon also teased the possibility that third-party characters will be launched as DLC for "Injustice 2," given how well-received the move had been for "Mortal Kombat X." With this revelation, Boon said that "Injustice 2" will have the largest character roster for a NetherRealm game.
"Injustice 2" continues the epic cinematic story introduced in "Injustice: Gods Among Us." In this sequel game, Batman and his allies are working toward rebuilding the society while dealing with those who still support Superman's tyrannical regime. Amidst all the chaos, a new threat appears, putting the planet's existence at risk.
The character roster of the game currently includes classic fan favorites such as Batman, Superman, Supergirl, and Aquaman. New villains will also be introduced such as Atrocitus, Gorilla Grodd, and Deadshot.
Battles in the video game will take place in different arenas and locations, including iconic DC cities such as Metropolis, Gotham City, and Atlantis.
"Injustice 2" will be available for the PlayStation 4 and the Xbox One on May 16, 2017. Interested gamers can pre-order a copy of the video game here.
