'Injustice 2' release date news update: New details on Gear System, environment interaction and more
Developer NetherRealms Studios has done some exciting tweaks both big and small on "Injustice 2" as it makes the most out of the power of the current-generation consoles.
WCCFTech, who got to try the game, referred to "Injustice 2" as the "textbook definition of a sequel," praising how an already stellar fighting game was made bigger and better both visual and gameplay wise.
The site pointed out some changes and additions to the game, the main one being the new Gear System, which adds a loot system that players can use to earn equipment rewards after their matches.
In "Injustice 2," players can use these rewards in customizing their characters, ultimately giving fans the power to design the characters the way players want them as opposed to how these heroes and villains were established.
The loot system being introduced in "Injustice 2" will help in modifying the skill set and the overall aesthetic of the characters. The customization can be done on the arms, chest, legs, and even the cape.
"Injustice 2" also caters to fans who want to keep the characters as they are, and that will be done through the matchmaking filter included in the fighting game.
In addition to the Gear System, environmental interaction is also noticeably much more integrated into "Injustice 2" as items in the background can now be used by players during combat.
NetherRealms took it up a notch by making sure characters use these peripheral elements based on the personalities that they have. This suggests that Superman, Batman and Wonder Woman and the others will make use of the things around them differently.
Another tweak on "Injustice 2" that WCCFTech pointed out is the super meter now offers players the chance to escape from an opponent's ongoing combo.
"Injustice 2" will be released on the PlayStation 4, Xbox One and PC next year. Mobile versions will be launched shortly after.
