'Inside Amy Schumer' season 5 canceled or renewed latest news: Amy Schumer says show isn't cancelled, backtracks on previous statement

"Inside Amy Schumer" is not canceled, its creator and star, comedienne Amy Schumer, has confirmed.

Schumer's latest statement about the future of her Peabody Award-winning series is in stark contrast to an earlier comment in which she had announced that she and her team are no longer making the show.

On Wednesday, Aug. 17, Schumer tweeted a message insinuating that she is done with the popular Comedy Central sketch show. "Inside Amy Schumer," which premiered in 2013, was renewed for a fifth season in January. According to Comedy Central, "Inside Amy Schumer" season 5 will debut in 2017.

The actress/comedienne's initial statement was a reaction to controversial comments made by Kurt Metzger, who is credited as a writer on "Inside Amy Schumer." After Metzger made a series of Facebook and Twitter posts scolding women who didn't seek police assistance after being allegedly sexually assaulted, Schumer called out her writer/friend and denied that he is a writer on her show.

"He isn't a writer for my show because we aren't making the show anymore," Schumer tweeted. "There are no writers for it," the continued

Metzger's comments had first come to the attention of Schumer's fans after she tweeted: "I am so saddened and disappointed in Kurt Metzger. He is my friend and a great writer and I couldn't be more against his recent actions."

When her tweet earned criticism, she responds by saying that Metzger did not work for her and that his words weren't hers.

However, following her bombshell statement, Schumer once again took to Twitter to clear up the issue. On Thursday, she clarified her earlier comment, writing: "#InsideAmySchumer is not cancelled. @ComedyCentral has provided us with a wonderful home and we couldn't be happier there."

According to the "Inside Amy Schumer" star, the show is on hiatus because she is currently on a promotional tour for her book, "The Girl with the Lower Back Tattoo."

"We are slated for a season 5 but not in the foreseeable future," she later added.
