'Insurgent' Release Date, Spoilers News: Shailene Woodley Enjoys Own Stunts in 'Divergent' Sequel
"Insurgent," the much-awaited upcoming sequel to "Divergent," is a much bigger movie, with so much more action, its star Shailene Woodley said in a recent interview.
"Insurgent" is slated for a March 20, 2015 release.
The movie is based on the second book in the sci-fi young adult Divergent trilogy written by American novelist Veronica Roth. It follows the story of Tris Prior, played by Woodley, and the dystopian post-apocalyptic version of Chicago.
Following the first movie, Tris searches for allies and answers in the wake of the uprising. Tris and Four (Theo James) are on the run, as they are being hunted by Jeanine Matthews (Kate Winslet), the leader of the Erudite faction.
Tris and Four race against time to try and figure out what Abnegation sacrificed their lives to protect, and why the Erudite leaders will do anything to stop them. Haunted by her past choices but desperate to protect the ones she loves, Tris faces one impossible challenge after another as she unlocks the truth about the past and ultimately the future of her world.
Speaking to Access Hollywood, Woodley said she was excited for people to see the film, "where the colors are more vivid, the music score much larger and where in every aspect possible, the movie has taken it up a notch."
She also enjoyed doing her own stunts, at least those she was allowed to do [some were not allowed as per insurance stipulations].
Having just cut her hair for the movie, "The Fault In Our Stars," Woodley said she was glad she didn't have to wear a wig for "Insurgent."
In other news, Ansel Elgort, who starred with Woodley on the hugely popular "The Fault In Our Stars" as her love interest, related how initially weird it was to suddenly have to play Woodley's brother in "Divergent" and "Insurgent," but somehow they pulled it off. He joked that he sometimes tells Theo James, especially when the latter was sick, that he, Elgort could sub for him if there were any kissing scenes with Woodley, since he had done this in the past and he was okay with it.
Aside from James, Elgort and Winslet, Woodley's other co-stars in "Insurgent" are Octavia Spencer, Jai Courtney, Ray Stevenson, Zoe Kravitz, Miles Teller, Maggie Q and Naomi Watts.
