iOS 9 Release Date Rumors, Features News: First iOS 9 Benchmark Test Appears
Several websites have reported that devices running iOS 9 have started popping up in their Google Analytics. Now even more interesting news has surfaced in the form of benchmark test leaks that originated from a results database maintained by Rightware.
On Rightware, a pre-release build of the iOS 9 has already been notching up benchmark scores at the same level as devices running iOS 8, which BGR said is good news for the new operating system.
Accompanying the report on the Rightware benchmark test was more detailed information which indicated that iOS 9 on a iPhone 6 has scored 1600.06 on the Basemark OS II test. Compared to this result, similar iPhones running the iOS 8 notched up 1264.65 and 1620.94 on the Basemark OS II test. However, a point of concern was web score results.
iOS 9 is only due to be released to developers in June during the Worldwide Developers Conference hosted by Apple, after which it is expected that the company will release it to the general public along with a new device sometime in September.
Therefore, it is still too early to be talking about the iOS 9 when Apple is busy fixing bugs and poor battery life issues present in iOS 8. Another attempt in providing fixes was the release of the iOS 8.1.3 a few days back. However, many users reported that the update brought several additional problems although it solved some of the lingering battery life issues for iPhone and iPad users.
With several issues still persisting after the 8.1.3 update, users have been waiting for the arrival of the next major update – the iOS 8.2 – which has been confirmed. Importantly the iOS 8.2 update is expected to be released along with the Apple Watch.
During a recent earnings call, it was revealed that the much anticipated watch would land sometime in April this year.
