The iPhone 6 and the iPhone 6 Plus may still be dominating the smartphone market, but attention has already turned to the next model from Apple. Many sources indicate that it could be the iPhone 6s, and it could come with a path-breaking dual lens camera.

The news that the upcoming iPhone will feature a dual lens design came from Appleinsider which sourced it from Apple's supply chain in Asia. It stated that since the cameras on Apple devices are some of the best in the world, it is but natural that Apple would want to upgrade them significantly.

Rivals devices to the iPhone – nnotably the Nexus 6 and Galaxy Note 4 manufactured by Google and Samsung, respectively – are starting to catch up with Apple in terms of low light performance. With the dual lens, the iPhone 6s will be able to improve its performance in low lighting shots and even offer optical zoom.

If the iPhone 6s does come with a dual lens camera, it won't be the first phone to do so. The HTC One (M8) has actually already done it. The HTC One (M8)'s dual lenses are based on the camera and technology developed by Corephotonics, which provides optical zoom in photos and video. While Apple could also choose the same module, it could also opt to go with its traditional partner Sony if it has developed equivalent technology.

As for the current iPhone range, the phablet-sized iPhone 6 Plus comes with a sensor from Sony that provides phase-detection autofocus and stabilizes images. Since its release, this camera has been earning a ton of praise, with several reviewers saying it is as good as several point-and-shoot cameras.

Another Apple supplier from Asia has indicated that three-dimensional touch sensors will be available on the iPhone 6s, which will allow Force Touch to be used, Appleinsider revealed.

If Force Touch is available, users will be able to control the iPhone by employing a heavy press on the screen to activate the options menu. On the other hand, a light touch would result in a specific option being selected on the screen.
