iPod Touch 6G Release Date Rumors: Apple to Launch Device September 2015
Don't worry, the sixth generation iPod Touch is still coming. It's just that it's not going to be a top priority of Apple right now.
Apple has been very busy with the upcoming release of Apple Watch, which has been described by company CEO Tim Cook as having "the same ingredient that made the iPod a game changer in the music world."
But for people who are more interested in the iPod Touch, some reports claimed that the latest version will be released by September this year, according to Tech Times.
The iPod Touch 6G was supposed to have been released last year following the release of the iPhone 6 and iPhone 6 Plus. But with the very high demand for the iPhone 6 and iPhone 6 Plus, Apple was prompted to postpone the iPod Touch 6G release.
The company is well aware that the music market niche is still alive and has plenty of potential, even if its share in this market has been shrinking a little bit with the increasing popularity of smartphones.
"Even though sales for digital music players have decreased the past few years, Apple managed to revolutionize the music player scene all those years ago, and they are confident that if there's anyone who could revive the trend, it will be them," Tech Times said.
JobsNHire noted that the new iPod Touch will come in two models, a 4.7-inch and a 5.5-inch, and will come in a myriad of colors such as their usual pink, yellow, red, silver, blue, and space grey.
Reports said it will also come with an A8 processor that will have features fashioned from the iPhone. The best of these features could be the 4-inch Retina Display that could be seen for the very first time in the iPod line.
"None of these are sure-fire updates though, and should be taken with a grain of salt. However, one thing is for sure: the iPod 6G is still coming, we just have to wait," the Latino Post said.
In terms of software features, the iPod Touch 6G is expected to be basically a stripped down version of the iPhone 6, removing calling and texting functionality.
Without relying on cellular connectivity, the new iPod has been reported to still preserve Apple's overall philosophy and design direction.
