'iZombie' Spoilers, Plot Recap: Liv Investigates Artist's Murder Amid Arrival of Drug-Dealing Zombie
Following its premiere on March 17 on CW, iZombie followed this up with an episode titled "Brother, Can You Spare a Brain?" which aired on Tuesday.
The episode revolved around the murder of an artist and the arrival of the drug dealer who turned Liv (Rose McIver) into a zombie.
The murder of an artist named Javier (Claude Knowlton), who mostly dabbled in nudes, started off the episode. Liv subsequently consumed his brains to get some insight on why he was killed by someone who stabbed him in the eye with a paint brush. Her boss Dr. Ravi (Rahul Kohli) and Detective Clive Babinaux (Malcolm Goodwin) provided assistance. They initially deduced that Javier's wife Lola (Judy Reyes) killed him when she discovered that he was sleeping with one of his models. However, Babinaux's theory did not pan out as they discovered that his indiscretions were fine with Lola.
Liv, under the influence of Javier's feelings flowing through her bloodstream, started having visions of his lovers. This caused her to be uncharacteristically friendly with her former fiancé Major (Robert Buckley) when he visited to bring her belongings back.
Liv then produced a photo of the zombie drug dealer who turned her. After he saw his own face on Liv's Facebook, Blaine DeBeers (David Anders) visited her. He then glibly lied that he turned her into a zombie, saying he was not as bad as she imagined.
It soon emerged that DeBeers was trying to take over the drug dealing business. He was also creating a market for brains by turning people into zombies.
The visions Liv experienced finally helped them solve Javier's murder. She discovered that Javier had gotten one of his models pregnant and this enraged Lola whom he did not want to have children with. She subsequently stabbed him.
Liv's relationship with Major was shown at last as she visited him, asking him for a second chance. However, he would have none of it, saying it was too late for him to come back to her. Later Liv realized that her transformation into a zombie had a silver lining and she resolved to put their relationship behind her.
