There is no doubt that J. Cole and Kendrick Lamar are two of the most popular hip-hop artists today.

Lamar, previously known as K-Dot, hails from Compton, California and is considered responsible for reviving hip-hop in the West Coast. He has released three studio albums so far: "Section.80" in 2011, "good kid, m.A.A.d city" in 2012 and "To Pimp a Butterfly" in 2015.

He is also known for rapping about current events including political injustices and incidents that affect lives of African Americans.

On the other hand, J. Cole is a 31-year-old rapper from Fayetteville, North Carolina who is popular for sharing his personal experiences through his songs. Like Lamar, J. Cole has three studio albums: "Cole World: The Sideline Story" was released in 2011; "Born Sinner" was out in 2013; and "2014 Forest Hills Drive" came out a year later.

Despite their separate successes, there have been lots of talk about the two teaming up for an album.

These rumors go back as far as 2011, with Cole talking to MTV to confirm that they were doing a project together.

Two years later, Cole was on MTV again, telling everyone that the highly-anticipated album was coming.

However, three years have passed but there is still nothing released.

Many believe that there have been several delays due to the two artists being busy with their own respective projects that they are unable to take time to release their joint effort.

At the moment, Lamar is busy helping his Black Hippy group mates in promoting their respective albums, as well as in recently releasing another collaboration he has with shoe brand Reebok.

On the other hand, J. Cole is still busy performing in various shows as he remains to be one of the most sought-after performers today.

While there is still no real timeline when the possible Kendrick Lamar-J. Cole collaboration album would surface, expect fans of both artists to keep the hope alive that it will eventually come.
