'Jane the Virgin' season 3 episode 9 spoilers: Jane struggles with career and family concerns in 'Chapter Fifty-Three'
Things are already starting to heat up just one episode into "Jane the Virgin" season 3B.
After going through almost the entire previous episode unsure of what he wants to do with his life, it seems that Michael (Brett Dier) may have finally found the right career in "Chapter Fifty-Three." As he prepares for his upcoming test, his wife, Jane (Gina Rodriguez), also finds herself dealing with the pressure of finishing and, eventually, turning in the perfect novel. How will this pressure to do their best in their chosen professions affect the couple's relationship and day-to-day interactions?
Aside from working on her novel and showing her support for Michael, Jane will also have to deal with her and Rafael's (Justin Baldoni) concerns over Mateo's (Aiden Tiago) development. It seems that their son is not progressing through the developmental stages as normally as other children his age. What could be happening with Mateo, and is it really something that Jane and Rafael should be concerned about?
The trailer for the next episode shows Rogelio (Jaime Camil) and Darci (Justina Machado) trying to bond and get to know each other, but their platonic parenting plan will be put in even deeper trouble when Rogelio invites everyone to the final taping day of his telenovela. While they were there, Darci notices Rogelio's interactions with his former flame, Xo (Andrea Navedo), and starts to doubt her and Rogelio's potential to become a legitimate couple.
Meanwhile, Rafael will find out that Petra (Yael Grobglas) already knows that he's not biologically a Solano, and he becomes upset when he realizes what she could be up to. Petra will assure him that everything she does at this point will all be for the sake of protecting him yet again. But can Rafael trust her word for it, or will he come up with a plan of his own to put a stop to whatever Petra is planning to do?
"Jane the Virgin" season 3 episode 9 airs on Monday, Jan. 30, at 9 p.m. EST on The CW.
