'Jane the Virgin' season 3 release date, plot spoilers: Xo must make a difficult decision, Jane to lose her virginity?
The CW's popular satirical comedy-drama "Jane the Virgin" recently concluded its sophomore run with a bang, as Jane got married with the love of her life. Like any other telenovela, the series finale had all the necessary plot twists to keep fans interested on how the upcoming third season will play out.
The series kicked off with a young, religious Latina woman named Jane Villanueva who became pregnant via artificial insemination by mistake, hence the title. After her wedding in the season 2 finale, Jane is expected to consummate her marriage with Michael.
It remains to be seen if there will be changes in the show's title, but Jane will surely face new challenges next season as she embarks on a new chapter in her life. "The first year of motherhood is about getting your bearings, while the second year you're settling in a bit. I want to get into that feeling of growing up, and that loss of innocence," showrunner Jennie Snyder Urman explained. "Jane will try to find balance and find answers, but in general, I want to explore what it means to grow up, through [her], Mateo, Jane, Alba, and Xo as they go through the next stage of their lives."
Speaking of Xo, Urman hinted that another baby on the way might force her to make a difficult decision. "She's definitely going to consider other options," Urman said. "Xo has been very, very clear about the fact that she doesn't want another kid. She's raised Jane, and feels this is the time in her life where she can go after what she wants. Not only is the pregnancy unexpected, it's with someone she doesn't want to parent with. That's going to be something we get into as soon as we return."
The network has yet to announce a definitive premiere date for "Jane the Virgin" season 3, but the show is expected to return sometime in October of this year. More details regarding the plot and new cast members are expected to be revealed soon.
