'Jane the Virgin' season 3 spoilers, plot news: How will Jane move forward after losing her virginity?
Jane Villanueva (Gina Rodriguez) can no longer use "the virgin" title in the continuation of "Jane the Virgin" season 3. But it does not mean that the character will lose a big part of her identity this season.
In an interview with Yahoo! Style, Rodriguez revealed that she cannot be more than happy for her character in the hit comedy from The CW.
According to the actress, she had always envisioned Jane to give her virginity to the person that she loves and the one she chooses to marry. Losing the virginity will also open the show to have other storylines.
"The show isn't about her virginity. The show is about this girl going through life, and that just happens to be a really fun aspect of what made it interesting and a little different, and it made her holding on to her convictions such a powerful thing as a woman on television," Rodriguez stated.
As Jane moves into a new chapter in her life after she finally gets intimate with her husband Michael (Brett Dier), she now has to face another set of challenges due to her long-lost cousin Catalina (Sofia Pernas).
Toward the end of the midseason finale, fans of the series found out that Catalina slept with Jane's baby daddy Rafael (Justin Baldoni).
While Jane already moved on from her feelings for Rafael, it could still be awkward to see him in a relationship with one of her relatives. Worse, Jane's grandmother Alba (Ivonne Coll) feels like Catalina's presence will cause more problems. This could mean that the blossoming relationship between Catalina and Rafael will not be welcomed by the Villanueva ladies.
The second half of "Jane the Virgin" season 3 is also expected to feature Rogelio's (Jaime Camil) quest to become a father for the second time, as well as its effects on his complicated relationship with Jane's mother Xo (Andrea Navedo).
"Jane the Virgin" season 3 is slated to return to The CW on Monday, January 23, 2017.
