Jane (Gina Rodriguez) has finally had sex.

In Monday's episode of "Jane the Virgin" season 3, Jane and her new husband Michael (Brett Dier) finally consummated their marriage after the doctor gave the latter, who was recently shot, the go-ahead to resume strenuous physical activities. After hearing this, the newlyweds rushed home where they finally did the deed.

But because "Jane the Virgin" is a family friendly and female-centric show, the scene didn't quite play out as expected. Reflecting the actual experiences of many, Jane's first time didn't really live up to her expectations. Fortunately, her second time was more "successful." Both scenes were depicted through animated sequences.

"Jane the Virgin" showrunner Jennie Snyder Urman recently talked about the decision to finally do away with Jane's virgin status and how the titular character's actions will affect the show's title.

"It felt like the right time where we put her through enough and we pulled as many frustrating stories about the fact that she's a mom and now married and still a virgin," Urman told The Hollywood Reporter. "I just felt like now was the time. I didn't have any drama or comedy left in that device," she added.

Speaking with Entertainment Weekly, the "Jane the Virgin" boss said that any more stalling would have been to the detriment of the show and would have put its credibility in question.

As for whether or not the show's title will be changed now that Jane is no longer a virgin, Urman said, "No, not officially."

"We're obviously going to play with the text at the beginning," she explained, adding that they could perhaps strike through the word "Virgin" in the title or have it explode off the screen or change it to a different word.

According to Urman, Jane's identity was wrapped up for so long in being a virgin. Finally being able to play with the title will allow the show to emphasize that identity is "so much more than just one thing."

Now that Jane and Michael are finally having sex, could Jane become pregnant before the season ends?

"What are the chances? I guess 50 percent?" Urman said with a laugh. "You'll have to wait and see," she continued.

"Jane the Virgin" season 3 airs Mondays at 9 p.m. EDT on The CW.
