'Jane the Virgin' season 3 spoilers, plot news: Stars keep busy as countdown to season 3 begins; Michael's fate revealed in season premiere?
With the season premiere of "Jane the Virgin" season 3 set in stone, fans are eager to find out if it would reveal whether Michael is alive or not. Meanwhile, some stars of the show are keeping themselves busy with other things as they wait for October.
The CW has bared the lineup of shows that will be premiering in their Fall 2016-2017 schedule, and apparently, Gina Rodriguez's telenovela-ish dramedy "Jane the Virgin" will be part of the October releases. The premiere episode of the third season will drop in on Oct. 17, and if speculations are on point, Michael Cordero's (Brett Dier) fate will be revealed then.
Fans would never forget the moment when Susanna Barnett (Megan Ketch), who was actually the evil Sin Rostro (Bridget Regan) in disguise, shot Michael on his and Jane's wedding night. The second season ended without cluing viewers in whether he survived the gunshot.
During an interview with Gold Derby last month, Dier said having his character shot shortly after getting married was quite disappointing.
"When he got shot I felt sad and upset as me. It's just a weird trippy thing because I feel like me and Michael are two different people. It's almost like I'm schizophrenic," he said.
He also revealed that his being shot in the season ender was kept secret from him. Apparently, series creator Jennie Snyder Urman only told him about it a day before their table read for the season finale.
"She told me the day before the table read. She was like 'Just so you know, you're getting shot', and I'm like 'Alright. Cool,'" he shared.
Meanwhile, as they wait for the season premiere, some stars of the show are keeping themselves busy.
Jamie Camil, who appears on the show as Rogelio de la Vega, is currently part of the Tony Award-winning Broadway musical "Chicago." According to Bustle, he appears onstage as Billy Flynn eight shows a week. The publication said the stint in the musical will give Camil the chance to showcase his vocal range, something fans don't get to see on "Jane the Virgin" even if he sings there.
On the other hand, lead star Rodriguez opened up about her thyroid disorder known as the Hashimoto disease, a condition where a person's immune system attacks the thyroid gland. She shared that one of the most common symptoms of the condition is weight gain.
Apparently, Rodriguez's weight made her the butt of criticisms before, but the actress is committed to changing the society's perception of curvy women. It seems she is actively sharing her story because she wants to underscore the fact that opportunities in this world should be open to everyone, regardless of body type.
"Jane the Virgin" season 3 comes back to The CW on Oct. 13 at 9 p.m. ET.
