Jeremy Lin news: Brooklyn Nets feels pang of point guard's absence in match against Hornets
It appears that Brooklyn Nets will be struggling in the next two weeks as their point guard Jeremy Lin recovers from a strained hamstring, which will sideline him for a couple of weeks.
Lin will sit out seven games as he recovers from the injury, which was first announced Thursday. The first one he missed took place last week. It was against the Charlotte Hornets, where the team suffered a loss.
"It's a huge adjustment, no question, because he brings so much to our team," Nets center Brook Lopez told New York Post about playing without Lin.
"It was just a matter of giving Isaiah [Whitehead] confidence and letting him know that we're all out there with him and have trust in him. It's not just one of us on the floor," he added.
New York Post says this will be the same situation with regards to Lopez's play in the games, seeing that the void left by Lin is clearly impacting them.
The match against the Hornets saw the Nets struggle to bring Lopez the ball. This is, for the most part, due to the absence of Lin, but also his backups Greivis Vasquez and Randy Foye having to deal with injuries (ankle for the former and hamstring for the latter) as well.
Nets coach Kenny Atkinson said that the defense of the Hornets was "excellent," allowing them to knock off his team of their pace and rhythm.
"[Charlotte] probably had a talk at halftime and said we can't let this guy [Lopez] get so many touches and so many shots in the post," Atkinson said.
"They started fronting him in the post, and quite honestly, we're going to have to work on doing a better job of getting him some counters to that," he continued.
As basketball fans know, Lin played a key role in the Hornets last season. They were expecting to see him go toe to toe with his former club, but this was not the case.
