Jeremy Lin news 2016: Resentment from teammates cramped comeback

Knicks fans were disappointed that "Linsanity" has not happened again. This refers to Jeremy Lin's notable string of games back in 2012 with his team, the New York Knicks, where he brought them a winning turnaround.

After Lin made the rounds playing in other teams, he is now finally with the Brooklyn Nets. But his coach back when he played for the Knicks recently spoke of that time and why an anticipated game of that class was never seen again.

Mike D'Antoni, who is now with the Rockets, said that Lin's performance at that game in New York had brought some ill will against the player. The coach, though, did not name names in his podcast interview with The Vertical but mentioned that the pair of stars involved had gotten sidelined then.

D'Antoni pointed out that these two players — which later surfaced as Carmelo Anthony and Amar'e Stoudemire — had been resentful of the commendations that Lin had received and, as a result, refused to adjust their play in the game to allow Lin the opportunity to prove himself.

The new Rockets coach explained during the podcast, "It was there, it's real. The problem that we had was that for Jeremy to be really good, which he was, he had to play a certain way. It was hard for him to adapt."

He also said that the other two players also had a play that suited them and since Lin had to play another way, there existed this conflict where the best for the team was put to question. D'Antoni opined that if the players could have co-existed with one or two willing to play another position, it would have been possible. However, these players did not want to budge.

Unfortunately, the team also became divided as to the best play for them to adapt. The other players on the team were affected by the split and had become increasingly frustrated game after game.

Stoudemire also spoke with reporters a few months back to talk about Lin.

""If [Lin] stayed, it would've been cool. But everyone wasn't a fan of him being a new star. So he didn't stay long."

Presently, Lin settled for a three-year contract with the Nets at $36 million, which also works for the team, with the potential for Lin to become the face of their franchise owing to the player's appeal to their fans.
