Before the new National Basketball Association (NBA) season started, Jeremy Lin was confirmed to be a point guard under Brooklyn Nets after signing a three-year contract deal — and fans immediately expected a second "Linsanity" coming under this new team. However, the "Linsanity" excitement was cut short after Lin suffered a hamstring injury that compelled him to stay on the sidelines since Nov. 2.

To make up for Lin's temporary absence, team coach Kenny Atkinson is looking around his own roster and considers Sean Kilpatrick, Randy Foye and Isaiah Whitehead among the top contenders to act as a temporary point guard for the Nets.

The three contenders were each tried out throughout actual NBA games in which Atkinson noted their performance.

"Listen, I think Isaiah [Whitehead] for a first-year guy is really ... I mean, he really got after it defensively [Wednesday]," Atkinson said. "Obviously there's a big learning curve offensively. As for Kilpatrick, the coach said that he gave "some good minutes." "We're going to have to do that by committee until Jeremy comes back, and keep getting better at it. Hopefully the more games we play, the more comfortable they get, and we'll be a little better," he added.

Lin's injury is evidently putting a toll at the Brooklyn Nets current standing, the team dropped five straight games and eventually dragged a 4–10 mark after their game against the Pacers. All in all, the team lost seven games out of nine since Lin was out.

The third point guard substitute for Lin, Whitehead, previously injured his hand while guarding Al Horford of the Boston Celtics.

"Pressure is over with. I played a couple of times, I started a couple times, so that's behind me. It's just about getting out there and getting better every play,'' Whitehead said. "I just try to get better every game, either at the offensive or the defensive end, just somehow, some way get better," he continued.

As to when Linsanity could return to play, the Brooklyn Nets can't give an estimated date.
