Several months after the first season of Marvel's "Jessica Jones" was released on Netflix, there are now speculations regarding the possible plotline of Season 2. The next season is not expected to air until 2018, but as early as now, there are possible theories regarding the character development of Jessica Jones (Krysten Ritter), plus the chance crossing paths with other characters in the ever-growing Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU).

The rumors are rife that "Jessica Jones" Season 2 will feature the arrival of Frank Castle, also known as The Punisher (Jon Bernthal). Game N Guide reported that it is possible for the fearsome vigilante to meet Jessica Jones throughout his journey, but their meeting might be just as bloody as when The Punisher met Matt Murdock (Charlie Cox) in "Daredevil" Season 2. To recall, The Punisher's wretched ways to apply justice did not go too well for Matt/Daredevil, so the latter decided to stop him before he could go on a murderous rampage to avenge his family's death.

Before the anticipated return of "Jessica Jones" for a new season, Ritter's character is expected to be featured in another Marvel-created Netflix series, "The Defenders," which will see Jessica teaming up with Daredevil, Luke Cage (Mike Colter) and Iron Fist (Finn Jones). As "The Defenders" is set to appear next year, the events in this upcoming Netflix series might affect the new season of "Jessica Jones" airing in 2018.

As Jessica is set to join "The Defenders," there now lies a possibility of the character being involved in the Russo Brothers' upcoming film, "Avengers: Infinity War." Yibada reported Anthony Russo expressing his interest in adding as many characters as they could in the huge Marvel feature movie, and The Defenders are expected to be among the additions.

On the other hand, "Jessica Jones" showrunner Melissa Rosenberg revealed that Jessica's character will remain tormented and haunted by her past in Season 2. She explained that even after the events in the first season that may have helped to ease her pain, the fans cannot expect Jessica to be a "cured" person right away.

"The equivalent for us would be if Jessica somehow recovered from the damage that had been done to her. People don't just heal, you don't go through that just to say, 'Oh, he got arrested, he's in jail, I'm OK now. That trauma is a huge part of who she is now," Rosenberg stated in an interview with Esquire.
