'Jessica Jones' season 2 air date, spoilers & plot rumors: Nuke to become the main villain?
One of the most memorable elements of Marvel's "Jessica Jones" was how terrifying mind control was portrayed thanks to villain Kilgrave (David Tennant). The second season won't arrive till 2018, but with Kilgrave gone, is there a baddie that can even top Tennant's demented Purple Man?
According to Game N Guide, "Jessica Jones" showrunner, Melissa Rosenberg, has confirmed that the second season will feature more than one villain, and one of those villains doesn't necessarily have to be new. Season 2 is said to have Will "Nuke" Simpson (Will Traval) return as one of the main antagonists who will go against Jessica Jones (Krysten Ritter).
After Simpson was controlled by Kilgrave, he made it a point to put an end to him regardless of whatever Jessica was planning to do (which was to take him in legally). Though he sided with the good guys at first, Simpson eventually took matters into his own hands and murdered key witnesses to Kilgrave's mind-control abilities — basically anyone who looked like they would get in the way of him killing Kilgrave.
It was then revealed that Simpson had been part of a secret super soldier program that gave him adrenaline pills which heightened his senses but also made him mentally unstable. He was pacified by the end of the season, but Trish Walker (Rachael Taylor) had already started asking questions about Nuke's super soldier program.
It's speculated that the next season will look more into Nuke's origin and have Jessica go up against a whole army of Junkie super-soldiers.
It was no secret that the first season of "Jessica Jones" was a metaphor for sexual abuse (which made the series a critical hit), but the second season may have some other smart symbolism up its sleeve to keep Jessica one of the most relevant modern-day superheroes.
The second season of "Jessica Jones" is expected to be released on 2018.
