'Jessica Jones' season 2 release date and rumors: Jessica could be going up against IGH
Netflix has a two-series-per-year strategy when it comes to Marvel properties, and with "Iron Fist" and "The Defenders" coming out in 2017, fans will probably have to wait until 2018 before getting a second season of "Jessica Jones." Rumor has it that this time around, Jessica (Krysten Ritter) will be going up against IGH Corporation.
Game N Guide reports that in season 2, Jessica will be facing the people responsible for giving Will Simpson (Wil Traval) aka Nuke the adrenaline pills that not only heightened his senses, but also drove him to be very unstable.
Speculations say that IGH will also have be present in the upcoming season of "Defenders" and that they may also have a hand in giving Luke Cage (Mike Colter) his powers. The origin of Jessica's powers are a mystery as well, so time will tell just exactly how involved IGH is with the superhumans.
One of the most praised villains in the first season of "Jessica Jones" is David Tennant's chilling portrayal of mind-manipulator Kilgrave. Never has mind control looked like such a terrifying power onscreen. With Kilgrave off the face of the earth, the writers will have to come up with something more intriguing for Jessica to handle.
In an interview with TODAY, Ritter talks about how she thinks that Jessica's act of murdering Kilgrave might have some emotional weight on her character in the second season. In the first season, Jessica wanted to take Kilgrave to the authorities but he just proved to be too dangerous. Jessica had no choice but to get rid of him permanently.
Ritter says that she doesn't know too many details about the second season yet, and even if she did, Marvel would forbid her from spilling the beans. Only time will tell what's in store for Jessica's future.
Season 2 of "Jessica Jones" will most likely air on Netflix come 2018.
