Johnny Cash Son Arrested For Drunkenly Stripping At Airport Terminal
John Carter Cash, son of the late country singer Johnny Cash, was apprehended for taking off his clothes at a Canadian airport while under the influence of alcohol.
Cash was arrested at Deer Lake Airport in Canada on Monday after stripping nude at the airport terminal. The record producer was returning home to Tennessee from a hunting trip in Newfoundland and was waiting for his flight when he suddenly decided to take off all his clothes.
The local police were called in and they arrived at the scene at around 2:10 p.m. By then, the airport authorities have convinced Cash to put his clothes back on. Nevertheless, Cash was arrested by the police who confirmed that he was drunk during the incident.
Cash was held in police custody until he became sober. The police decided not to press charges since the 44-year-old musician was cooperative and had no prior record. There were also very few people who witnessed his striptease act. Cash missed his flight but rebooked and was back home by Tuesday morning.
Cash's arrest due to intoxication was reminiscent of his late father who also struggled with alcohol abuse. The singer was in and out of rehab and last went to a rehab center at Loma Linda, Calif. in 1992. Cash followed his father and received treatment at the same facility as well.
Country singer Johnny Cash had four daughters -- Rosanne, Kathy, Cindy and Tara -- with his first wife, Vivian Liberto. The couple divorced in 1966 with Liberto citing her ex-husband's drug and alcohol abuse as one of the main factors. The musician then married his second wife June Carter with whom he had one son, John Carter.
Johnny Cash was hospitalized due to complications from diabetes and died in September 2003, just four months after the death of his wife June.
