'Justice League' release date, cast news, spoilers: Ezra Miller teases Flash-Batman relationship
"Justice League" star Ezra Miller recently previewed the relationship between his character, The Flash, and Ben Affleck's Batman in the upcoming superhero ensemble film.
The relationship between the two was heavily teased in the trailer for "Justice League," which showed Batman/Bruce Wayne breaking into The Flash/Barry Allen's apartment to recruit the younger superhero to his cause. The Flash, a relative newbie to the world of crime-fighting, eagerly agrees to Batman's proposal. The light-hearted scene gives fans a taste of the buddy comedy-esque dynamic between Batman and The Flash.
"I think it's the relationship between someone who is naive and excited and someone who is experienced and jaded," Miller said in a recent interview with IGN. "And it's that seeing each other as reflections of one another and being amused and maybe sometimes annoyed by one another," he added.
According to the actor, Batman and The Flash recognize aspects of themselves in each other. But while Affleck's Batman is a battle-scarred and weary version of the Caped Crusader, Miller's Flash sees his new adventure with Batman and company as fun and exciting.
"I think they have a lot to learn from each other, like in any great friendship," the actor continued. "I think it's a fascinating relationship," Miller said.
Miller's Flash made a brief cameo in this year's "Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice," which marked Affleck's big-screen debut as the Dark Knight. In a scene from the film, The Flash time travels to give Batman a dire warning. The Hollywood Reporter noted that this scene suggested Batman and The Flash will end up being the best of friends in "Justice League," which is why Barry chose to travel back in time to warn Bruce in "Dawn of Justice."
Meanwhile, filmmaker/reporter Neil Turitz recently wrote a blog post detailing the reaction of the Warner Bros. team over the recent departure of "The Flash" director Rick Famuyiwa. According to Turitz, while Famuyiwa was the second director to exit the film, Warner Bros. and DC Films aren't all that concerned given that they are very confident about the upcoming "Justice League."
"Because, apparently, 'Justice League' looks dynamite," Turitz wrote. "Totally different from anything [director Zack] Snyder has done before and, in fact, reasonably coherent as a movie."
"Justice League" opens in theaters on Nov. 17, 2017.
