After winning the 2015 World Series recently, Kansas City Royals second baseman Ben Zobrist attributed all of his athletic success to God in a heartfelt interview following the win.

Zobrist, a devout Christian, said following his team's World Series victory against the New York Mets that all of the glory for his team's victory should go to God.

"This is incredible, a very prepared team, everybody is prepared but, you know, you prepare the horse for battle, but the victory belongs to the Lord," Zobrist told ESPN following the final game that cinched his team's victory. "I am so thankful to be a part of this. I am just thankful."

Zobrist, whose father was a pastor in Illinois, has reportedly been considered by some on his professional baseball team as a sort of Christian missionary, reportedly organizing Bible studies for himself and fellow players.

The second baseman is also married to Christian musician Julianna Zobrist.

In an interview with The Kansas City Star last month, Zobrist's father, Tom, told the media outlet that his son seeks to communicate his Christian faith simply by the way he lives his life.

"It's not this blustery, dominating in-your-face kind of thing," Tom Zobrist told the media outlet. "It can be very gentle and quiet: the way you live your life, the way you treat your family, the way you treat other people […] He lives his life and lets his actions speak."
