Kate Middleton Due Date Announced: Duchess Pregnant With Twins?
The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge have finally announced that their second baby is due in April of next year.
In a statement on Monday, the Kensington Palace revealed that Kate Middleton's health has improved since she had bouts of morning sickness last month, which made her cancel several royal engagements. There has been no word, however, on the gender of the baby.
The official statement said: "Their Royal Highnesses The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge are delighted to confirm they are expecting a baby in April 2015. The Duchess of Cambridge continues to be affected by hyperemisis gravidarum, but her condition is steadily improving."
The U.S. National Library of Medicine defines "Hyperemisis gravidarum" as an "extreme, persistent nausea and vomiting during pregnancy that can lead to dehydration."
It further explains that this condition is particular "during the first three months of pregnancy" and "can happen if you are pregnant with twins (or more babies)."
The condition has led to rumors that the Duchess is carrying twins. However, Middleton, 32, also had severe morning sickness during her pregnancy with Prince George, who was born July of last year.
Meanwhile, a healthy Kate joined her husband, Prince William, in welcoming Singapore President Tony Tan, together with his wife on Tuesday, as they arrived for a four-day stay in the U.K.
On the same day, Middleton attended the Wildlife Photographer of the Year 2014 Awards ceremony at the National Museum.
