Ken Ham Accuses Bill Nye of Promoting 'Murder,' Attacking Bible
Creationist Ken Ham has spoken out against a recent video in which science educator Bill Nye discusses abortion, accusing the television personality of promoting the "murder" of fetuses and "attacking" the Bible.
Ham, who is the president and CEO of Answers in Genesis, recently responded to a video featuring Nye on his Answers in Genesis blog.
In the recent Big Think video, Nye discusses the science involving conception and abortion, arguing that "when it comes to women's rights with respect to their reproduction, I think you should leave it to women."
Nye went on to condemn the pro-life argument that life begins at conception, saying: "If you're going to hold that as a standard, that is to say if you're going to say when an egg is fertilized it's therefore has the same rights as an individual, then whom are you going to sue? Whom are you going to imprison? Every woman who's had a fertilized egg pass through her? Every guy who's sperm has fertilized an egg and then it didn't become a human? Have all these people failed you?"
Ham has criticized Nye's recent Big Think video, writing on his blog that "through the whole video clip [Nye] is telling women what to do — that they should abort (murder, really) a baby if they want to."
The Answers in Genesis CEO goes on to accuse Nye of attacking the Bible, writing: "In this video, Bill Nye attacks the Bible because his starting point is that man determines his own worldview — that there is no God who owns us. Then using his religion, his starting point that all life is the result of natural processes, and therefore one's worldview is moral relativism, he proceeds to plead (yes, plead) that women be allowed to abort their babies."
