NBA trade rumors 2016: Could Golden State Warriors get free agent Kevin Durant?

Even though the Golden State Warriors are still wrapping up their season in the NBA Finals, they are already being heavily linked with superstar free agent Kevin Durant.

Durant led the Oklahoma City Thunder to the Western Conference Finals as they faced the Warriors and came up short as they lost in seven games despite already leading 3-1 in the series at one point.

And as he and the Thunder look at the disappointing season, it seems the link between him and the Warriors extend far from the hardcourt.

It has not been a secret that the Oakland team are trying to lure Durant to sign with them.

In fact, a lot of teams are trying to do that but there are only a few that can match the resume that the Warriors bring in the Durant sweepstakes.

Outside of the Thunder, only the San Antonio Spurs and Warriors have the championship calibre that can give Durant the immediate shot at the championship next year.

For the Warriors, the beauty of possibility courting Durant after being back-to-back champions, bouncing back from a 3-1 deficit in the Western Conference Finals, and breaking the regular season record with a 73-9 record, are pretty big things that Durant should consider.

However, this would mean that the Warriors could already let go of the core they have today – a core that has helped them reach the status they are enjoying at the moment.

While many may be baffled at why this could be, it remains a fact that the owners are still trying to make the Warriors an already bigger market than they already are.

With Durant on board, then they can reach an entirely different scale of popularity.

But the last answer still remains with Durant, who seems to be relatively quiet over where he wants to go. And the allure of getting even more money in the coming years if he stays with the Thunder should also linger on his mind.
