Kevin Durant's pastor Car Lentz dismisses Lil B's 'curse' on NBA star player
Rapper Lil B has claimed he has cursed the Oklahoma City Thunder forward Kevin Durant, but Durant's friend and mentor, Hillsong NYC Pastor Carl Lentz, only made jokes about it.
"Haha @CoachRjayBarsh you know that man is gonna be BALLIN game 7. Gonna be a good one! I'm [going to] bring @LILBTHEBASEDGOD w/ me. Just for fun," tweeted the pastor on Monday, May 30 just before the National Basketball Association's (NBA) Western Conference championship game between the Thunder and the Golden State Warriors.
The Thunder gained a 3-1 advantage in a best of seven playoffs but lost Game 7 during the Western Conference finals, spurring Lil B to recall his curse as the Based God.
In May 2011, Lil B set the curse on Durant after the NBA player called him as a "wack rapper."
He then wrote, "KEVIN DURANT WILL NEVER WIN THE TITLE AFTER HE SAID 'LIL B' IS A WACK RAPPER, 'THE BASEDGODS CURSE' #THEBASEDGODSCURSE ON DURANT - Lil B."
The 26-year-old rapper took to Twitter again shortly after Durant's team lost the championship.
"And they said the curse was not real," Lil B wrote. "'The BasedGod' has never lied to me and like he told us, the Warriors are going to the finals."
A few days before the Finals night, Lil B kept a series of Twitter posts where he made it known who he was rooting for. He even claimed talking to "TheBasedGod" to ask about the Warriors and to repeatedly send them blessings.
"Reading Twitter basketball thoughts it's the equivalent to listening to bad late night Christian TV prophecy guys," Lentz tweeted before Lil B's prediction or "curse" became a reality.
During a Sunday service at the Hillsong Church in 2013, Durant admitted that he wanted Lentz to guide him spiritually, according to Christian Post. The NBA star reportedly likes it that the pastor doesn't seem fazed by celebrities.
Lentz is also known to minister to pop singer Justin Bieber.
