Korn bassist 'Fieldy' testifies his encounter with Jesus was 'mind-blowing' and 'undeniable'

Reginald "Fieldy" Arvizu of Korn recently spoke about his faith during a meet-and-greet and described his conversion as a "mind-blowing encounter." The bassist stressed that his faith made him easier to get along with.

In an interview with Spirit 105.3, Arvizu explained that his conversion was different from that of his bandmate Brian "Head" Welch. The bassist said that he did not have to leave Korn when he became a Christian because he was in a more stable situation. Arvizu pointed out that Welch was in a more difficult position because he had a daughter so he made the choice to leave the band in 2005.

Arvizu noted that he waited for a while before making his decision to be saved.

"It's a very mind-blowing encounter when it happens; it's undeniable," said Arvizu about his conversion. "It's completely so real that it almost will knock you on your back for a year before you realize, 'Wow! This is really going on,'" he added.

The bassist opened up about his conversations with some of his friends about Christianity.

"I've heard friends of mine say before... They're, like, 'It's no big deal to become a Christian. All you've gotta do is change everything.' That's why I think people are afraid — because they think, 'Well, I'm not ready for that," Arvizu said.

"Well, you're never gonna be ready for that," he added. "Jesus says, 'Come as you are.' He wants to clean you up," Arvizu continued.

Arvizu remarked that his bandmates do not feel threatened by his faith because he is now easier to get along with.

In his 2009 memoir titled "Got The Life: My Journey Of Addiction, Faith, Recovery And Korn," the bassist recounted how he struggled with alcohol and drug addiction during the band's early years. He also told the story of how he became a Christian and conquered his addictions.

His bandmate, Welch, officially rejoined the band in 2013. Welch stated in an interview last July that he would not have returned if they were still into partying and drugs. He believes that God put him back in the band so that he could reach out to thos who have strayed from their path.
