When it comes to a faceoff between a budget smartphone from Samsung and LG's flagship model, many people would expect the flagship phone to win easily. This is not the case, however, when the Samsung Galaxy A7 is compared with the LG G3.
Design
The Galaxy A7 scores well in terms of design as it has a full metal body and rounded edges, which give it a premium look. The phone is also very slim, measuring 6.3mm compared to the 8.9mm thickness of its competitor. As for the LG G3, it is heavier and has a plastic body covered with a faux metal finish.
Display
The LG G3 scores well in a comparison of displays. This is because it has a True HD + LCD screen measuring 5.5 inches with a resolution of1440 x 2560 pixels and a density of 538 pixels per inch. As for the Galaxy A7, it has a super AMOLED screen measuring 5.5 inches with a resolution of 1080 x 1920 pixels and a density of 401 pixels per inch.
Platform
Even though the Galaxy A7 was launched recently, it comes with the Android 4.4 KitKat operating system, which is also present in the LG G3. As for their chipsets, the Galaxy A7 has an Exynos 5 Octa 5430 chipset on its single SIM model coupled with a quad-core 1.8 Cortex-A15 GHz, quad-core 1.3 Cortex-A7 GHz CPU and Mali-T628 MP6 GPU. The LG G3 has a Qualcomm Snapdragon 801chipset, quad-core 2.5 GHz Krait 400 CPU and Adreno 330 GPU.
Memory
The16 GB version of the LG G3 has 2 GB RAM while its 32 GB version has 3 GB RAM. On the othert hand, the Galaxy A7 comes with 2 GB RAM. Both devices have memory slots. On the Galaxy A7, the memory chip can support up to 64 GB of external memory. The LG G3, in contrast, can support 128 GB.
Price
The Galaxy A7 could cost around $491 at full retail, while the LG G3 is priced at $478 at full retail and $149 with a two-year contract.
