The LG G3 is undoubtedly one of the best smartphones released in 2014. But in a market inundated with phablets, the Samsung Galaxy Note 3 – which was released in 2013 – remains popular and still provides stiff competition to other similar devices.

Design

The LG G3 does a good job of camouflaging its plastic build with its brushed metal finish. Otherwise, the smartphone stands out with good design and slim bezels. As for the Galaxy Note 3, it has a plastic build with a faux leather back panel marked by a stitch running along its edge. The design of the phablet makes it easy to hold although it doesn't have a premium look. However, a major plus point for the Galaxy Note 3 is its S Pen stylus which allows for precise typing and drawing on the screen.

Display

The LG G3 has an IPS+ LCD screen measuring 5.5 inches with a resolution of 1440 x 2560 pixels and a density of 538 pixels per inch. The Note 3 has a super AMOLED screen measuring 5.7 inches with a resolution of 1080 x 1920 pixels and a density of 386 pixels per inch.

Specs

The Note 3 comes with a Qualcomm Snapdragon 800 chipset, quad-core 2.3 GHz Krait 400 CPU and Adreno 330 GPU. The LG G3 has a Qualcomm Snapdragon 801chipset, quad-core 2.5 GHz Krait 400 CPU and Adreno 330 GPU.

Memory

Both devices have memory slots. The version on the Note 3 can be used to add up to 64 GB of external storage while the LG G3 supports up to 128 GB of external storage. The Note 3 and the LG G3 both have 3 GB of RAM.

Price

The LG G3 is priced at $149 with a two-year contract. The Note 3 is also available at the same price with a contract.
