LG G3 vs Sony Xperia Z3 Review: Specs, Price and Features Comparison - Both Lay Claim To 'Best Phablet' Title

With more devices entering the phablet market, the LG G3 and the Sony Xperia Z3 have been trying to take Samsung's place at the top of the heap. But when pitted against each other, they turned out to be pretty similar.

The Xperia Z3 has an aluminum chassis covered with nylon at its edges. It also has a tempered glass front. As for the LG G3, it has a plastic build with a faux aluminum coating and its back panel is slightly curved. One major advantage that the Xperia Z3 has in terms of its design is that it is IP68 rated. This means it is dust-resistant and waterproof for up to one meter submerged in water for about 30 minutes.

As for their displays, the Xperia Z3 has a smaller 5.2-inch IPS LCD screen with a resolution of 1080 x 1920 pixels and a density of 424 pixels per inch. The LG G3 has a phablet sized True HD IPS + LCD screen measuring 5.5 inches with a resolution of 1440 x 2560 pixels and a density of 538 pixels per inch.

Coming to their platforms, both devices ship with Android KitKat operating systems and can be upgraded to 5.0 Lollipop. The LG G3 has Qualcomm MSM8975AC Snapdragon 801chipset, Quad-core 2.5 GHz Krait 400 CPU and Adreno 330 GPU. As for the Xperia Z3 it has a Qualcomm MSM8974AC Snapdragon 801 chipset, Quad-core 2.5 GHz Krait 400 CPU and Adreno 330 GPU.

Both devices also have microSD slots which can be used to expand their external storage up to 128 GB. The devices are sold as 16 GB and 32 GB versions. The Xperia Z3 comes with 3 GB RAM, while the 16 GB version of the LG G3 has 2 GB and its 32 GB version has 3 GB of RAM.

Finally in terms of price, the LG G3 is available from major U.S. carriers at a starting price of $149 with a two-year contract while the Xperia Z3 is priced at $199 with a similar contract.
