LG G6 release date and specs rumors: Expected in April; features MST technology, 4K display
South Korean brand LG is rumored to bring in a follow-up to the recently released LG G5. Dubbed the LG G6, the next flagship model of the company could be out in the market next year.
According to reports, the purported G6 is expected to arrive sometime in April 2017. Its predecessor actually came out in the same month earlier this year after it was announced back in February. With that said, the G6 is also predicted to be announced during the Mobile World Congress.
As for the price, it's estimated to cost around $650, which is also the same cost of the G5. But nothing is confirmed or official yet so fans will have to take these details with a pinch of salt. By the looks of it, the G6 is most likely going to look like the G5 but reports said that the two will have differences in terms of the design. It's said that the modular design of the previous model will be removed.
It's also said that the G6 will have a glass rear instead of an aluminum finish. This gives the device a more premium look. Moreover, an iris scanner is expected and it's reportedly going to be utilized for a revamped authentication method. The device is also rumored to carry the Magnetic Secure Transmission (MST) technology, which is a similar feature found in some Samsung devices for its payment platform Samsung Pay.
Several are hoping for a curved OLED display but reports said that this feature will not be available. This could mean that the G6 will sport the same 5.3-inch Quad HD LCD display. As for the camera, rumor has it that it will be featuring the same dual-camera setup. Expected under the hood is a Qualcomm SD830 chip paired with 4 GB of RAM while its software is the Android Nougat.
As of now, nothing is certain yet so fans will have to stay tuned for more updates soon.
