LG Electronics' G6 phone is one of the most highly anticipated Android smartphones of 2017, and according to the tech company, the upcoming device will be safer and will handle internal heat more effectively.

According to Korea Herald, LG Electronics has stated that it is adopting a new technology and that it is conducting tests to improve the safety of its new flagship smartphone, following several reports of battery-related explosions of mobile gadgets from other tech giants, such as Samsung and Apple, which led to serious safety concerns.

Samsung's Galaxy Note 7, for example, was pulled out from the global market back in 2016 due to its reported overheating issues and critical fire problems.

"We will significantly improve the safety and quality of our new flagship smartphones as more consumers seek safe smartphones," said Lee Seok-jong, head of LG Electronics' mobile communications operation group.

As reported by Korea Times, LG Electronics is improving the efficiency of the LG G6's heat emission in order to prevent its battery from heating, which can cause serious safety issues. To do this, the company has opted to use copper heat pipes that have high thermal conductivity. These pipes are widely used to cool laptops and desktop computers. Its use will be able to reduce the heat produced by the gadget's processor by up to 10 percent.

Aside from this, the company also said that it redesigned the new gadget so that there is more space available between components in order to disperse heat better.

The company has also applied 15 percent higher standards in conducting battery heat exposure tests, which is significantly beyond the iEE1725 standard set in the United States and the IEC62.133 standard in Europe. The Korean tech company also has plans to conduct anti-puncture and anti-shock tests on the G6 smartphone.

The smartphone will also be tested under tougher environments. The company will also conduct a test that will determine if the smartphone's application processor, display and camera and fingerprint sensor will be able to withstand shock, external damage, humidity and even extreme temperatures.

Korea's second-largest smartphone manufacturer is set to unveil the LG G6 flagship smartphone at the Mobile World Congress (MWC) in Barcelona this coming February.
