"Logan" is definitely a comic book movie, but the film just feels different from the usual comic book flicks that have been made so far. Based on the trailer alone, fans can see that the atmosphere of the movie appears to be more subdued. There are no aliens invading the Earth, and no mechanical, adamantium samurai trying to kill the hero. Some folks are already complaining about how there is an over-saturation of comic book movies, but "Logan" does look like a different sort of movie.

In an interview with Flicks And The City 2 (via Comic Book), director James Mangold said what sets the film apart from other superhero movies was that "Logan" focuses more on drama rather than spectacle, and they're investing more in the characters in the movie.

"The fact is that a lot of these movies are a collection of set pieces of action with very short connective things basically explaining how we go from action piece A to action piece B. We wanted to make a movie that's really a drama. If you cut out the action, what you'd have is a powerful drama about interesting character. Whether that makes us different or not, I'll leave others to judge but I think it was our goal to make a movie that earned its audience from feeling real," he stated.

Well, an intimate character-driven drama about a man fighting for his life in a post-apocalyptic world sounds like the type of superhero film the audience will like. There may be a lot of drama in "Logan," but any film with Wolverine (Hugh Jackman) will also have plenty of violence, so fans can expect to see some severed limbs when he gets his hands on the Reavers.

If Mangold manages to find the perfect balance between drama and action, "Logan" will be the "Wolverine" film fans have been hoping for.

"Logan" is scheduled to premiere on March 3.
