Los Angeles Clippers trade rumors 2016: Blake Griffin may be out after next season
It seems that the Los Angeles Clippers are desperately looking to keep Blake Griffin in the team.
There have been different talks on Griffin moving to different teams, with Bleacher Report revealing that the Boston Celtics should go for the former number 1 draft pick.
However, Clipperholics reported that the Western Conference team have swept aside the rumors linking Griffin to the move to the East, and are adamant that they should keep him for the coming season.
But now, the biggest buzz surrounding their star is that he may be coming home to link up with Russell Westbrook in Oklahoma City.
Griffin has his roots in Oklahoma, playing for the Oklahoma Sooners in college. If OKC get to keep Westbrook and extend his contract, then it would be quite possible that Griffin will arrive at the end of the 2016-17 season.
The Clippers forward has an early termination option in his contract that makes him available at the end of the coming campaign.
With OKC already trading Serge Ibaka to the Orlando Magic and the departure of Kevin Durant, the Western Conference team certainly needs a power forward who can pair up properly with Westbrook.
In his six years in the league, Griffin has been an All-Star five times. He is also averaging 21.5 points and 9.6 rebounds in his career, while shooting 52% from the field.
He is also excellent off the ball as he constantly moves and finds open spaces to get the ball, being a potentially perfect pair with Westbrook on the pick-and-roll.
Moving to the Thunder may be beneficial for Griffin as it gives him a new scenario where he can hopefully challenge for the title.
For the Clippers, they have always been a strong team on paper but have failed to realize it on the floor. They should try to improve the team or risk their best players leaving.
