Los Angeles Lakers trade rumors: Ingram may be traded for Simmons

The Los Angeles Lakers are still looking to shake the rocky start to the season and new trade rumors are coming up to apparently help the team improve.

This time, it involves three teams as the talks are linking the Lakers to the Philadelphia 76ers and the Phoenix Suns.

At the moment, the three teams are struggling. The Lakers are 1-3 in their first four games, while the Suns are below them with a winless run so far at 0-4. The Sixers are also winless at 0-3. All these teams are in dire need of improvement.

What is more surprising are the pieces involved in the potential trade — the Lakers already seem to be shopping their rookie Brandon Ingram.

Taken second overall in the 2016 draft, Ingram has started slow in the season, averaging around 6.7 points and 2.7 rebounds per game. He has struggled to find his shot as he is only 17 percent from beyond the arc and 44 per cent from the field.

Ingram has taken the back seat to Luol Deng as the Lakers look to maintain Deng's experience to help the young core of the team.

As a result, Ingram seems to be on the trading block and the Lakers' main target appears to be the top pick of the draft, Ben Simmons.

Simmons has yet to play for the Sixers as he recovers from surgery after repairing an acute Jones fracture of the fifth metatarsal in his right foot.

Despite that, many believe he is going to be a breakout star when he plays and it is likely that he would be with the Lakers.

As for the Suns, they appear to be letting go of a few players to get the trade going, with Dragan Bender and Brandon Knight going to the Sixers. In turn, the Suns may be getting Nerlens Noel from the Sixers and Lou Williams, along with a 2017 draft pick, from the Lakers.
