MacBook Air 2016 release date, specs news update: Apple to discontinue entire MacBook Air lineup?
There have been several reports circulating all over the internet suggesting that Apple is planning to discontinue the entire MacBook Air lineup. However, there are rumors saying that a new MacBook Air device is currently under development, which will be released before the year ends.
Despite the contradicting reports, many fans are hoping that Apple will release an official statement with regard to their plan about the popular Apple product. According to Tech Times, the Cupertino-based company will definitely replace the MacBook Air with the all new MacBook Pro 2016 as their new flagship laptop.
Although the MacBook Air has been pretty popular amongst Apple users due to its reliability, there are some fans who felt disappointed because of Apple's lack of change and updates in designs for each year they have released a new model since 2010.
Meanwhile, if rumors prove to be true, the new MacBook Pro 2016 will come out in September with amazing specs and features. According to reports, the new laptop will be rolled out in two variants – the 13-inch model and the 15-inch version. Both devices will feature the NFC chip technology, Touch ID fingerprint scanning, Thunderbolt of USB-C, wireless charging capability and the current Skylake processor from Intel. One interesting feature is the OLED touchbar, which is expected to replace the traditional function keys on the top of the keyboard.
However, if Apple decides to release a new MacBook Air model, it will run on a powerful processor to be paired with a higher RAM capacity compared to its predecessor. There are speculations that the device will carry the AMD Radeon RX 400 series video card as it is rumored to have the 5K display technology.
Nevertheless, fans should wait for Apple to officially announce which device they are going to release. There are rumors suggesting that Apple will reveal multiple devices in September.
