MacBook Air 2016 release date: Laptop dropping late October with MacBook Pro 2016?
Last month, it was reported that the MacBook Air 2016 will be released with the new MacBook Pro late October. Now, a much more specific date has been designated.
According to multiple sources cited by The Apple Post senior editor Tom Skyes, the new Mac line will be unveiled on Monday, Oct. 24.
However, 9to5mac was quick to point out that looking at Apple's release history, a launch event set on a Monday is highly unlikely, but the site says that "sometime around [the said date] seems more likely than not."
The tech portal also said that an October launch is possible not only because Apple typically holds events during this month, but also because the company wants to get everything out in time for holiday shopping beginning November.
Bloomberg has reported in the past that the MacBook Air 2016 will be released alongside the new MacBook Pro and the iMac as well as a 5K standalone display sometime this month.
This is also what IHS Markit Technology claims will be the timing of the launch. MacRumors went more detailed and reported that an event is set for the second half of October.
However, the publication only mentioned of the new MacBook Pro but this might as well be the launch schedule for the MacBook Air 2016 since it is expected to be released together with the Pro.
With regards to the specs, the next-generation MacBook Air will reportedly come with a multi-functional USB-C port technology.
It will reportedly be powered by an Intel Skylake processor as opposed to the newer Kaby Lake considering the early production of the laptop. The display will be at 13.3-inch, the same size as its predecessors.
Other than that, there is not much to say this early about the MacBook Air 2016. Thankfully, users will not have to wait that long to see the laptop in the flesh.
