MacBook Air 2017 release date, canceled news update: Will the new MacBook Air arrive in March?

After failing to make the cut during the product launching announcements of Apple Inc. this year, speculations still claim that the next MacBook Air will be released in 2017.

Several rumors claim that the tech firm based in Cupertino, CA will release the new version of their super thin laptop device in the first half of 2017, just like when Apple released an updated version of the MacBook Air back in March 2015.

The tech firm managed to come up with a newer version of the MacBook Air in April this year, but the fresh release failed to impress the market because of the minor improvements from its predecessor, and it came only with a bigger internal memory of 8 GB for the 13-inch model as well as the new Rose Gold color option. In terms of its internal specs, this year's MacBook Air release had no other significant changes in its features.

Speculations about the possible discontinuation of the MacBook Air product line also emerged this year after the company announced in October that they will no longer offer its 11-inch edition. This could mean that Apple is already prepared to move forward to create other laptop products aside from the slim MacBook Air devices, or they would rather concentrate on developing new versions of the MacBook Pro as well as the new line of iPad Pro devices.

In a past interview with Telegraph back in December 2015, Apple CEO Tim Cook hinted that they would like to offer the iPad Pro as a replacement for the typical desktop or notebook products.

"I think if you're looking at a PC, why would you buy a PC anymore? No really, why would you buy one?" Cook stated. "Yes, the iPad Pro is a replacement for a notebook or a desktop for many, many people. They will start using it and conclude they no longer need to use anything else, other than their phones."

But there are no confirmed reports about the company's plan about the MacBook Air at the moment.
