MacBook Air 2017 release date, specs news: Siri rumored to crossover to the laptop devices next year
It has been more than a year since the release of the seventh-generation MacBook Air in 2015, but Apple continues its silence regarding the details about the rumored MacBook Air 2017.
The Cupertino-based tech giant was expected to release a new-generation MacBook Air this year, but Apple opted not to include the ultra-thin laptop line in its roster of new products for 2016. However, rumors continue to come out regarding the possible arrival of the device next year.
According to a report from Tech Radar, the next-generation MacBook Air could possibly come out with Apple's virtual assistant known as Siri. While Siri was a popular feature in Apple's mobile devices, it could possibly come out on the laptop devices with the help of the new macOS Sierra operating system (OS).
The report also claims that the rumored MacBook Air 2017 might likewise come out with a Retina display. However, it also mentioned that the next MacBook Air might still come out with the standard 1,440 x 900 screen resolution upon release.
There are also speculations claiming that the rumored version of MacBook Air 2017 will be equipped with Intel's current powerful processor called Skylake instead of the Broadwell processor. If this will be the case, the Intel Skylake processor will help the upcoming laptop device to have longer battery life compared with the previous models. It is also expected to perform up to 10% faster in terms of power, while its graphics could be up to 34% better as compared with devices that run using the Broadwell processors.
But while Apple remains mum about its plans for the MacBook Air 2017, the tech firm included the devices mid-2009 and late 2010 editions in the list of products that will be considered as technologically obsolete based on the company's recent press release.
This means that Apple already discontinued the hardware service for the said devices.
