The award-winning "Mad Men" will be returning for its final seven episodes on April 5, AMC has announced.

The Sunday slot, the network clarified, will be shown after the fifth season of the zombie drama "The Walking Dead," which is about to conclude its remaining eight episodes, according to Hollywood Reporter.

AMC President Charlie Collier thanked fans of the Emmy Award-winning drama series, saying they are honored to share the show's "artful conclusion" with them, Us Weekly reported.

"We are honored to forever be the birthplace and home of this iconic series and we can't wait to share its artful conclusion with the fans," Collier said.

"From the first shot, Matthew, his cast and crew handcrafted something truly distinctive for the screen, the very definition of premium television on basic cable," he continued.

"We will miss the remarkable people, the consistently exquisite program, and of course, the free scotch and cigarettes in our vending machines," he quipped in a statement.

Collier described "Mad Men" as the TV series that "put AMC on the map since its 2007 debut."

It has received awards and recognition from Emmy Awards, Golden Gloves, Screen Actors Guild, and the American Film Institution in the last seven years.

"It is impossible to overstate the impact it has had on AMC, and I would argue, this era of television," he said.

Matthew Weiner, the executive producer of the critically-acclaimed drama series, also took pride in what Mad Men has achieved, for AMC.

"What an incredible journey this has been. I take great pride in what the entire Mad Men team was able to create episode after episode, season after season," Weiner said.

"We sincerely thank the fans for joining us on this ride and hope it has meant as much to them as it has to us," the created added.
