'Madam Secretary' season 3 return date, news, plot updates: Titular character plays cupid for the sake of a peace deal

The U.S. Secretary of State will try her hand on couple counseling for the sake of a peace deal. Meanwhile, Dalton (Keith Carradine) might be forced to use the information about Evans' (J.C. MacKenzie) Alzheimer's gene against the latter.

"Madame Secretary" season 3 will continue with its second half this coming March, airing episode 14, titled "Labor of Love," where Elizabeth (Tea Leoni) will play cupid for the sake of a peace deal.

The synopsis for the episode reads as follows: "When the upcoming marriage of two star-crossed lovers from Colombia is in jeopardy, Elizabeth works to reunite the son of the Colombian president and the daughter of the rebel leader, whose union is at the heart of an important peace deal after years of civil war. Also, Henry (Tim Daly) prepares to send his operative undercover, Jay (Sebastian Arcelus) deals with his tenuous marital situation, and Daisy (Patina Miller) makes a shocking discovery regarding Kevin (Justin Baldoni)."

Meanwhile, it appears that someone other than the Colombian president and the rebel leader's daughter will be in need of cupid: Daisy. Before "Madam Secretary" season 3 went on break, Daisy's storyline was going towards the direction of romance, but it seems that her discovery about Kevin might change things.

Dalton had won the presidential seat, and Evans' wounds are still fresh, especially after he found out Elizabeth's plan to get Dalton votes in Ohio. Evans threatened to challenge Dalton's win, which might leave Dalton no choice but to bring out his dirt on Evans.

In an interview with TVLine, executive producer Barbara Hill shared that Dalton can still use his information of Evans having the Alzheimer gene if needed.

Hill explained that the second half of the season will feature the theme of "weighing the consequences against the things that you might have to do to make it work." The showrunner also added that it's not just about the character themselves as the country's welfare is also included in the decision.
