'Mafia 3' release date news 2016: Game director Blackman reveals concrete details about upcoming title
The upcoming "Mafia 3" is getting more exciting following an announcement of several important details by Haden Blackman, game director, about the third installment. Blackman revealed that the storyline will tackle many real-life issues including racism and identity.
According to a report by Polygon, The second sequel of the action-adventure video game will have a '60s setting, which is still considered as the decade of the mafia bosses. The new title will have a new protagonist named Lincoln Clay, a war veteran who is also a part of the organized crime world. The mysterious criminal is equipped with multiple skills in combat and different weapons.
According to Blackman, the story will focus on the main protagonist; however, it will be relative to the game settings. Some of the issues in the story will be a little sensitive especially the racial prejudice against African-American. Lincoln's story is said to be set during the time where racial discrimination is part of everyday life.
Racism will certainly be a big issue in the game as the characters will also use the same language, including racial insults and slurs during the era of Civil Rights-era of Louisiana. Apparently, the game director wants to be as real as it gets when it comes to the storyline. It will certainly be interesting how fans and critics will receive the upcoming title.
Meanwhile, GamesRadar reported that players of "Mafia 3" will be given the freedom to build their own mafia empire. They will have the opportunity to choose how they want to grow their wealth and businesses, and at the same time take down enemies.
During the game, gamers can choose to engage with the opponents right away. They can also use a stealth approach or try to convince their enemies to join forces with them.
The game developer Hanger 13 and publisher 2K Games have definitely done a good job hyping up the third installment of the series. "Mafia 3" is already scheduled to be released on Oct. 7 for PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and PC platforms.
