'Mass Effect: Andromeda' news: BioWare says Nintendo Switch version is possible; leak points to March 2017 release date
Nintendo is expected to announce more about the upcoming Nintendo Switch, plus a couple of gamers lined up for the console, at the upcoming Tokyo Livestream. Fans of "Mass Effect: Andromeda" are hoping that the title will become available for the imminent console, but BioWare says that it is not going to be.
However, game producer Mike Gamble eased the dismay of the "Mass Effect: Andromeda" fans when he said that the developer may consider putting the game on Switch. In an interview with Stevivor, he said, "Yeah, not right now, no. We're not planning on it. If the Switch launches and everyone's just yammering for Mass Effect, who knows. We never want to close doors like that."
He also revealed the title's PlayStation Pro (PS Pro) version and said that they will do the same things done for the recent consoles, but will probably be "more technical about that in January or February."
As for Microsoft's Project Scorpio, he said: "For Scorpio, we have absolutely no plans right now. You never know what'll happen after that."
"Mass Effect: Andromeda" is slated to come out in the spring of 2017 for PC, Xbox One and PlayStation 4 (PS4). The actual release date has not been confirmed yet, but recent leaks point to a March 31 launch.
In an article by Gamespot, "Mass Effect: Andromeda" has been listed for a March 31 release date by Microsoft, as seen on the Xbox Live Rewards.
However, Xbox Live Rewards is known to give out release dates one day earlier than the actual date of launch. For instance, "For Honor" is listed on the site with a February 13 launch, but the official release date is on Valentine's Day.
This means, "Mass Effect: Andromeda" might come out earlier than the listed date. The game caused gamers to be disappointed when its release date was delayed, but BioWare said that it will make it available "early 2017."
