Meryl Davis and Maksim Chmerkovskiy Dating Rumors: Dancing With the Stars Winners Say They're 'Very Special' Friends
For fans of "Dancing With The Stars," one couple has remained in their hearts as the ultimate romantic pair and they are the winners of the 18th season title, ice dancer Meryl Davis and professional dancer Maksim Chmerkovskiy.
They endeared themselves to the audience during the season with their great chemistry on and off screen and their stellar performances. Since then, rumors of their "secret romance" have spread.
Following their victory last year in the spring, the couple have been seen together on several occasions, but they have been careful not to address any rumors surrounding their supposed romance.
Even though Chmerkovskiy is no longer associated with "Dancing with The Stars," he has performed several times with Davis since they won the Mirror Ball trophy. In December of last year, they appeared on his new show "SWAY – A Dance Trilogy," which took place in Westbury, New York. However, their reunion on stage only happened for a day, with Davis performing in the matinee and evening shows.
Speaking to People about Davis in December, Chmerkovskiy said contrary to fans' expectations, "we are not dating and don't think we will."
He added that Davis was "very special and he cared deeply for her but they were friends and would be for many years as she is awesome to spend time with."
Chmerkovisky's remark appeared to have cooled the romantic hopes of many Chmerkovisky-Davis fans.
Recently, Davis also spoke about her relationship with Chmerkovskiy to Glamour just before the "Shall We Dance Live on Ice Show" special was telecast last month on ABC Today. She said that they had become "incredibly close during the show and now we're continuing our friendship in a different capacity."
Since the pair only seems to be friends for the moment, other rumors about Chmerkovskiy's love life have surfaced, including the one about him dating fellow professional dancer Peta Murgatroyd who is on the current season of DWTS.
