Michael Schumacher health condition news: F1 legend's 25th year in racing celebrated; Gerd Kramer says it will be 'miracle' to see him in public again
As seven-time Formula One world champion Michael Schumacher continues his road to recovery, the racing world celebrates his silver anniversary in the sport in which he dominated.
Last week, Aug. 25 to be exact, marked the 25th year after his first race, which took place in the 1991 Belgian Grand Prix where he raced for Eddie Jordan Racing.
However, it was three years later—1994—that Schumacher won his first championship. He nabbed another one in the year after. By 2000, when he was under Ferrari, he won five consecutive championships up to 2004.
Schumi initially announced retirement in 2007, but returned to the race tracks in 2010 and decided to race with McLaren. He formally retired in 2012 and racked up a total of 91 wins.
Schumacher has certainly become one of the biggest superstars in the racing scene and his legacy will forever etch him in history. This is also the reason it is extra heartbreaking for fans to see him in his current situation.
The F1 superstar is still in a long and hard battle to restore himself back to health following his freak accident in the French Alps back in 2013.
He is currently receiving treatment at his home in Geneva with his family by his side. They opted to keep anything about Schumacher's recovery process private.
However, just recently, Schumacher's first sponsor Gerd Kramer spoke about Schumacher's condition in an interview with German broadcaster N24.
"He is in a more than difficult situation, and it would take a miracle to see him in public again," he said as quoted by Express UK. "He is completely shielded by his family," he continued.
Months back, former Ferrari chairman Luca Cordero di Montezelmo had something much more reassuring to say, as she said that Schumacher was "reacting" and that his determination will help him fully pull through.
News about Schumacher's health status is very difficult to get hold of with the family employing media blackout. Either way, fans continue to pray for his speedy recovery.
