Former Minnesota Congresswoman Michele Bachmann recently said during a radio interview that Americans need to be aware that they may potentially see the End Times within their lifetime, suggesting that the U.S. "cry out to a Holy God" to avoid punishment when the End Times do happen.

While speaking with Jan Markell on her "Understanding the End Times" radio program, Bachmann suggested that Americans repent before it is too late and Jesus Christ returns to earth. Bachmann pointed specifically to abortion and the legalization of same-sex marriage in the U.S. as reasons why America may face punishment during the End Times.

"We need to realize how close this clock is to getting toward the midnight hour and I think that's why, for our sake and for the sake of our family, for our nation and the next generations, we need to cry out to a Holy God," Bachmann told Markell in a recent interview. "This is coming faster than anyone can see."

The former GOP congresswoman added that while Christians should be excited for Jesus Christ's return, they must also repent and follow their lives according to the Bible's principles.

"Prophets said we look to the future. We long to see those days, live in those days. Why? Because it is the return of a soon incoming king. Jesus Christ is coming back," Bachmann said. "We in our lifetimes, potentially, could see Jesus Christ returning to earth, the rapture of the Church. These are wonderful times but we see the destruction. But, this is a destruction that was foretold."

Bachmann added that God's teachings found in the Bible were true then, and "they're also true for all people, in all tribes, in all times [...] Obedience brings about His blessings."
