Microsoft is apparently preparing the unveiling of the Microsoft Surface Book 2 as the company is now offering some variants of the original iteration of the laptop at a major discount.

Those who purchase the 256 GB and the 128 GB models with 8GB random-access memory (RAM) could save $150. The latter is now priced at $1,349 (from $1,499) while the former is now at $1,749 (from $1,899).

These price markdowns are said to be hinting at the arrival of the Microsoft Surface Book 2. It is believed that when a company slashes prices off its current-generation products, it signals the entrance of a new version as it is starting to get rid of its stock.

At the moment, however, the Microsoft Surface Book 2 has no launch date yet. In fact, the Redmond tech giant has not confirmed its release. However, reports have it that the laptop is coming this year.

It is being said that it will see the light of day by March along with the Microsoft Surface Pro 5, which is was recently rumored to arrive during the first quarter of this year as well.

The laptop and the two-in-one device were supposed to be released October last year, but Microsoft reportedly decided to postpone the release to wait for the Redstone 2 update on the Windows 10.

This will allow the software titan to add additional features to the Microsoft Surface Book 2 as well as on the Microsoft Surface Pro 5, making for much better offerings. Reports then claimed that the laptop will arrive along with the new Surface Pro early this year.

Interestingly, there was no mention of the Microsoft Surface Book 2 when Digitimes reported that the notebook will come out first quarter of 2017. This suggests that the Microsoft Surface Pro 5 and the Microsoft Surface Book 2 might not be releasing side by side.

That being said, it looks like fans will be better off to wait for official word from Microsoft.
