Microsoft Surface Book 2 release date, news, rumors: Latest Surface device under development, to be released this October?
According to the latest rumors, Microsoft is already gearing up for the release of Surface Book 2. The rumors are rife that the public may not have to wait longer for the release of the new Surface Book iteration, as the hybrid device is expected to arrive during the last quarter of the year.
According to a report from Bench Life, a leaked plan by Intel reveals the release schedule of the new generation Kaby Lake processors. According to the recent reports about the Surface Book 2's main features, the device may be sporting the latest Intel processing chip, and the new Surface Book's release will depend on the Kaby Lake's availability. If the leaked details from the website are to be believed, the Kaby Lake chipsets will be ready this September. In this case, the Surface Book 2 might be developed by October.
Moreover, Wccf Tech reported that the Kaby Lake will boast 15W TDP or thermal design power, something that will further enhance the Surface Book's performance. The online publication also stated that with the latest developments with the Intel Kaby Lake, the Surface Book 2 will be ready during this year's last quarter, or possibly in October.
On the other hand, the official Microsoft Surface Instagram account was reported to post the first look of the Surface Book 2. As reported by MS Power User, the appearance of the device on the photo is different from the original Surface Book, particularly on its hinge. The device posted on Instagram does not look to have a hinge gap. The website's unnamed sources claim that Microsoft is indeed starting to tease the public regarding the Surface Book 2, as the recently posted photo was that of the highly anticipated device.
The Surface Book 2 is expected to boast many upgrades from the first Surface Book iteration released last year. The current Surface Book is boasting the sixth generation Intel Core i5 or i7 processor with NVIDIA GeForce GPU, with 1GB GDDR5 memory. It has 128GB, 256GB, 512 GB and 1 TB SSD storage variants. It is also sporting a 13.5-inch PixelSense display with 3000 x 2000 maximum screen resolution.
